The department of Religious Education and Life strives to provide a comprehensive and holistic curriculum preparing students for life in the wider world. Students learn about a range of religious beliefs, careers and life issues, they develop their British values and there is a key focus on social, moral, spiritual and cultural development.
The RE / Life course at Key Stage 3 provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge to access the AQA GCSE (9-1) Religious Studies and EDEXCEL GCSE (9-1) Citizenship courses in Key Stage 4. RE / Life lessons encourage students to reflect on their past and consider their future. It is important because it equips students with cultural, social, moral and spiritual knowledge that aids in emotional and physical development within society. The lessons learned in RE / Life lessons prepare students for responsibilities, experiences and opportunities to enable them to become positive role-models within society. It is paramount that students acquire the knowledge and understanding of the beliefs and practices of the religions and worldviews which not only shape their history and culture but which guide their own development both morally and socially.
